Strategic Plan
2007-2010

Vision
Our vision is a community that is safe and healthy, and where individuals from all social classes and cultures mix freely, respecting one another.  In this place, people’s basic needs are met and they have the opportunity to grow and learn through participation in artistic, cultural, recreational and educational opportunities.

Mission

University Settlement helps individuals and families to learn and grow by engaging them in social, cultural, recreational and educational opportunities. Founded in 1910, University Settlement is committed to enhancing the quality of life of the people in the diverse communities we serve.

At University Settlement, we as staff, volunteers and Board:

Strategic Directions

Assess our mission in light of current community needs and align our programs and services accordingly.

  • Identify priority populations for University Settlement to serve
  • Clarify University Settlement’s role in the community
  • Review current programs and ensure that we are meeting community needs

Create a more coordinated service delivery model for our clients and staff.

  • Design a model of service delivery that reflects community and family needs and that employs a client-centered approach
  • Develop interdepartmental collaborations that facilitates access to our range of services and programs
  • Create a marketing/outreach strategy that reflects our new service model

Create a healthy, positive environment within University Settlement and in the surrounding community.

  • Create a positive work environment that promotes diversity, open dialogue, health and safety, learning and opportunity for growth for staff
  • Establish University Settlement as a place for community developed and directed programs and services
  • Promote mechanisms for feedback from the community on programs and create processes to identify unmet needs
